Prayer Event this Weekend

Prayer Event this Weekend

We received the following from one of our readers:

There is going to be a gathering of the faithful of the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana this Saturday, July 11th, from 6-8PM in front of the chancery @ 610 Lingle Ave., Lafayette IN.

The gathering will be a 2 hour prayer vigil to pray for the Diocese of Lafayette and Bishop Doherty.

There has been concern about the direction this diocese is heading with respect to the Uniting in Heart Pastoral Plan as well as the suspension of Fr. Theodore Rothrock.  We think this diocese and our Bishop need our prayers now more than ever.

We welcome all Catholics who would like to join us in prayer this Saturday.  We would be thrilled if you could let your readers know about the prayer vigil this weekend.  Thank you.

    How important our freedom
    Of speech is to us!!
    We have been pushed around
And our sacraments taken away… for 3 months … the priests were willing
But Our Bishop was not …. so what do we do …. Dearest Lady
Hear our prayer open the Bishop’s heart make him see
The good in Fr RothRock too.
    Make the Bishop More
    Like Fulton J Sheen
    And st John Paul too….

  2. Thanks for all those who have worked to set up this event. I’ve heard about it through several channels now and will for sure be in attendance with my family!

  3. This is great. People, let’s get this these vigils on our family calendars! It’s no good sitting home wishing things will get better. Let’s show our kids that standing up for the truth matters.

  4. Stay cool out there, guys. It’s going to be simmering out there. Oh, and the weather will be hot too…

  5. The bishops need a lot of prayer. Just listened to the Vortex and the Church dioceses around the country got approximately 65 million from our tax dollars through the PPP, paycheck protection program. Voris said this did not cover the entire list the SBA sent out. Indy got 3 million and don’t know if the Lafayette diocese got any. I’m sure someone could find out.

Voris says each diocese sits on millions in endowments yet continue to apply for more gov’t money, grants, contracts etc. I mention this only because some people worry about their priests. Let the bishop worry and break open his endowment to help our priests and his diocese. It seems they are very good at getting our tax dollars.

      1. Thanks! Add to that, the almost 6 million OLMC got to build a Family Life Center, which that haven’t built yet. I don’t think they are hurting at all.
Oh, I forgot, they do have a sex abuse lawsuit and we don’t know how much they will have to or have paid out for that.

  6. I can’t be there, but I can pray in place. Could we find out what will take place and they can know that others will be praying in unity with them?

    1. I now live in Florida, but I will be praying along with you in my own fashion. Why was Fr. Rothrock suspended? I hold him in high esteem with my former work in youth ministry.

      1. Marcie: he made comments critical of BLM and their true motives.

And we know that means automatically being canceled by the mob.

    2. I can’t imagine the bishop will welcome people to “his” property. I am all for prayer but I know the bishop and the vicar general — they will not welcome a group not of their choosing at 610

      1. It sounds to me like the prayer vigil is to be held in front of 610, not on the property of 610, which I believe is public property.

      2. Of course, they will not welcome a prayer vigil on their property or elsewhere for that matter. However, we need to insist on a public voice because it is OUR church, not just their Cburch. And the decisions “they” have been making are being made with a select few, but effecting hundreds and thousands with little consideration of the masses.
